Fitzroy River Ferry Service – Operational

Flooding generated by Ex-Tropical Cyclone Ellie in December 2022 and January 2023 caused significant damage to the West Kimberley.

At Fitzroy Crossing, the Fitzroy River Bridge was significantly damaged along with 500 metres of road east of the townsite, cutting access to Aboriginal communities east of Fitzroy River as well as the East Kimberley and Northern Territory.

On 14 March 2023 The Beachhead Logistics alliance commenced ferry services across the river for passengers and light vehicles, reconnecting the Fitzroy Crossing communities, the West Kimberley and Northern Australia’s main logistics arterial.
